FOSPAH appreciates the efforts of Islamabad Police in assuring the realization of Articles 25 and 34 of the Constitution of Pakistan which mandate the equality and representation of women.
On Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection against Harassment (FOSPAH) letter dated 06.09.2023 to IG, Islamabad Police, the IG undertook various significant measures for the protection of women in the six big parks of Islamabad Capital Territory. This letter was written in the wake of reports of harassment of women in Public Parks and at Margalla Trails with directions to undertake security enhancing measures so that women can exercise their constitutional right to participate in public places. In response, the Islamabad Police informed FOSPAH that with the cooperation of the authorities of the Parks and Margalla Trails 200 cameras have been installed which are being monitored by Safe City; drone cameras have been installed for monitoring the Margalla Trails and; mounted patrolling units have been activated for the surveillance of Parks and Margalla Trails. FOSPAH appreciates the efforts of Islamabad Police in assuring the realization of Articles 25 and 34 of the Constitution of Pakistan which mandate the equality and representation of women. FOSPAH is committed to collaborating with the Islamabad Police for making Islamabad a harassment free city and in this regard has held awareness sessions for the members of the Police Force.
