On 07.05.2024 the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection against Harassment (FOSPAH) organized an awareness seminar at Pakistan Railway Carriage (PRC) for its clerical employees. Ms. Meher Jamy, Law Officer FOSPAH and Ms. Eman Amad, Intern FOSPAH were the speakers at the seminar which was attended by around 60 employees of PRC including Ms. Hafsa Mehreen Waqas, Sr. Mechanical Engineer and Mr. Ishaaq Khan Abbasi, Works Manager.
Ms. Jamy gave a presentation on the provisions of the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 (2010 Act) dilating upon the concept of the term harassment; the procedure followed at FOSPAH for deciding a complaint; and the powers available to the Federal Ombudsperson for implementing her decisions. This was followed by an interactive question and answer session in which employees inquired about the kinds of acts that can be classified as harassment and the recourse available to women affected by harassment at public places. At the end Ms. Waqas expressed her commitment to conducting training sessions on the 2010 Act for the members of the Inquiry Committee and to arranging awareness seminars for the factory workers of PRC.
