How many of you are or know a victim of harassment?
Hon'ble Ombudsperson, Ms. Fauzia Viqar, asked a room packed with NUST law students yesterday. Nearly every single hand went up. But when asked, "How many of you know someone who reported it?" the room was silent. Not one hand raised. This stark moment revealed a painful truth victims often feel too powerless or unsupported to seek justice. The session, attended by 45 law students from NUST, was led by FOSPAH’s Law Officer, Meher Jamy, who broke down two critical laws: Students came forward with questions like “What happens if a student harasses another student?” and “What are the penalties that FOSPAH can impose on an offender?” The discussion laid bare the urgent need for victims to be empowered and for safe environments that encourage them to speak out without fear.
