Collaboration for  Enhanced Empowerment of Women in Pakistan

Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Hon’ble Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment at Workplace (FOSPAH), met with Mr. Mohamed Yahya, UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, to discuss groundbreaking initiatives for empowering women and transgender individuals.

Key discussions included:

  • Strengthening Victim Support: Establishing effective legal aid and referral mechanisms for comprehensive care.
  • Expanding Access: Implementing policies to reach underserved and remote communities.
  • UN Framework Integration: Prioritizing harassment prevention in the upcoming Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between the UN and the Government of Pakistan.

Mr. Yahya commended FOSPAH for its rising impact, as seen in the growing trust among women to report harassment, and praised the quick resolution of complaints under Ms. Viqar’s leadership.

This collaboration reaffirms a shared commitment to ending harassment and advancing gender equity in Pakistan. Together, we can create safer workplaces for everyone.
