A World Bank Mission led by Mr. Clifton Cortez, Global Advisor on SOGI held a meeting with Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Federal Ombudsperson at FOSPAH

A World Bank Mission led by Mr. Clifton Cortez, Global Advisor on SOGI; Ms. Samreen Shahbaz, SOGI Focal Person South Asia Region; and Ms. Mishka Zaman, Senior Social Development Specialist held a meeting with Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment, at FOSPAH Head Office, Islamabad. In the meeting Ms. Viqar appreciated the World Bank’s initiative to collect and assess the legal and policy protections available to transgender persons in Pakistan. She also informed the Mission that after the 2022 Amendments to the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 transgender persons can now file complaints of workplace harassment before FOSPAH. She assured the Mission that FOSPAH is committed to reaching out to the transgender community and looks forward to future cooperation with the World Bank in this crucial area.
