Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Federal Ombudsperson against Harassment, was invited as the Chief Guest at the International Conference on ‘Creating Safe and Inclusive Campuses in Pakistan’ held at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad
“Inviolability of dignity of a person is enshrined in Article 14 of the Constitution of Pakistan and harassment being a violation of a person’s dignity, must be eliminated from all organisations”. Federal Ombudsperson against Harassment, Ms. Fauzia Viqar, emphasized this fundamental right as Chief Guest at the International Conference on ‘Creating Safe and Inclusive Campuses in Pakistan’ held at Quaid-i-Azam University on 04.01.2024. The Conference was organised by the team of Safe and Inclusive Campuses project of the QAU in collaboration with the British Council Pakistan. At the Conference, Ms. Viqar spoke about the importance of providing a conducive learning environment to the students of Pakistan and elaborated on the collaboration between the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection against Harassment and the Higher Education Commission for creating and maintaining a safe and thriving environment for faculty members and students. Ms. Viqar expressed hope that the QAU-British Council initiative would strengthen protections for students and raise awareness amongst them regarding the prevailing issue of harassment at University Campuses. She urged the students to report harassment if experienced by them or if seen by them.
