"If we don’t feel safe in our learning and working environments, how can we truly thrive?"
This was just one of the questions raised during today’s seminar on workplace and educational harassment at Hamdard University Pakistan. Students and faculty from every department gathered to tackle issues often swept under the rug. From addressing domestic violence to harassment on public transport, no topic was off-limits. One question cut through the noise: "How do we protect victims without empowering false accusers?" Ms. Sabika Shah, Regional Head of the Karachi Office, said: "We must strengthen investigative procedures while ensuring fairness. False accusations must be addressed without overshadowing the reality that most harassment cases go unreported. Both justice and safety are non-negotiable." As the session ended, the students pledged to be the change, ready to challenge harassment wherever they encounter it—on campus, at work, and in their daily lives.
