FOSPAH Engages Judiciary to Advance Women’s Constitutional Protection
Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar called upon by Honorable Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan at the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan. She briefed the Honorable Chief Justice on the mandate, working, and recent actions of the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace (FOSPAH). During the engagement, Ombudsperson emphasized that Harassment and gender discrimination are not administrative disputes, they are constitutional injuries affecting dignity, equality, and economic citizenship. She stressed the importance of FCC leadership to strengthen gender equality and requested further sensitization of the judiciary on human rights and gender equality. Ms. Viqar highlighted the recent initiatives undertaken to ensure safe workplaces, address gender-based discrimination, and protect women’s property rights in Islamabad Capital Territory. Federal Ombudsperson offered her full support to the Court in deepening women’s constitutional citizenship. The Chief Justice affirmed his support for FOSPAH’s mission of safeguarding women’s dignity and legal rights, acknowledging the significance of collaborative efforts in safeguarding women’s dignity and legal rights. The visit marked a meaningful step toward reinforcing institutional synergy between FOSPAH and the judiciary, paving the way for stronger advocacy, enforcement, and protection of women’s rights nationwide.
