Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment and Regional Head Lahore addressed an awareness seminar organized by the Airport Security Force (ASF) in Lahore

Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Federal Ombudsperson against Harassment and Ms. Uzma Chughtai, Regional Head Lahore were invited as Keynote Speakers at an awareness seminar organized by the Airport Security Force (ASF) in Lahore. The seminar, held in the presence of Mr. Muhammad Rashid, Chief of Airport Security Force at ASF Camp Lahore focused on raising awareness regarding workplace harassment, the applicable laws and the role of FOSPAH in its eradication. The seminar was attended by 400 ASF officers. 
Ms. Viqar underscored the significance of understanding the governing law on harassment, especially the incorporation of gender-based discrimination within its ambit. Mr. Hassan Nadeem Khan, Assistant Registrar FOSPAH, Lahore delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 along with the subsequent amendments made to it in 2022. He particularly highlighted the expanded definition of harassment and complainant, which now encompasses men, women and transgendered persons. During the question-and-answer session, participants sought clarification on victim protection and the confidentiality of harassment complaints.
The event concluded with a reminder on the importance of cultivating a safe working environment for women to enhance their participation in the labor force and to ensure their economic empowerment. Mr. Rashid also committed to conducting a six week long training course on harassment at ASF for the employees.
