The Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Seminar was conducted at Superior University, Lahore.
The Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Seminar was conducted on 15.05.2024 at Superior University, Lahore in collaboration between LUMS University and UN Women. The theme of the discussion pertained to the infrastructure present at the Federal and Provincial levels to report gender based violence, the social steps needed to be taken to eliminate gender-based violence and the role of the law in curbing such violence. The panel was joined by Ms. Uzma Akhtar Chugtai, Regional Head (FOSPAH) Lahore; Barrister Khadija Bokhari, Director Litigation Musawi; Ms. Tahira Habib, founder of Khoj; Ms. Sameen Naseem, Program Coordinator Dastak; and Dr. Abida Abdul Khaliq, Director Women Aid Trust. Ms. Uzma informed the participants that under the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 women and girls who are exposed to physical violence at the workplace can resort to FOSPAH for expeditious and inexpensive justice. She urged the participants to not only stand up against gender-based violence but also to intervene when they witness women and girls being subjected to it.
