Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Federal Ombudsperson spoke at the awareness seminar on Protection against Harassment held at National Agricultural Research Centre
On 24.11.2023 the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection against Harassment and the National Agricultural Research Centre organised an awareness seminar on ‘Protection against Harassment.’ Federal Ombudsperson, Ms. Fauzia Viqar spoke as the Chief Guest. The seminar was the inaugural event in FOSPAH’s campaign for 16 Days of Activism which is aimed at eliminating gender-based violence against women and girls. In her address Ms. Viqar spoke on the mandate of FOSPAH and its role in combatting harassment at the workplace for men, women and transgendered persons. She noted the responsibility of organizations in notifying a standing Inquiry Committee and in displaying the Code of Conduct at prominent places to ensure that employees are aware of their rights and responsibilities under the law. Ms. Meher Jamy, Law Officer FOSPAH gave a presentation on the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 and informed the audience of behavior that constitutes harassment and the remedies available to complainants for redressal of their grievances. The seminar ended with a question and answer session with audience members inquiring about the powers available to FOSPAH for deterring frivolous complaints and the other steps that can be taken by society to address gender inequality in Pakistan.
