Federal Ombudsperson against Harassment, was invited as a Panelist at the Pakistan Literature Festival held in Quetta.

Ms. Fauzia Viqar, the Federal Ombudsperson against Harassment, was invited as a Panelist at the Pakistan Literature Festival held in Quetta on the topic of ‘Governance for People’s Empowerment.’ The other panelists included Mr. Fawad Hasan Fawad, a retired Civil Servant; Mr. Usman Chachar, Additional Chief Secretary Home & Prisons Department; and Mr. Dostain Jamaldini, former Finance Secretary Goverment of Balochistan. The panel was moderated by Mr. Omar Shahid Hamid, a serving Civil Servant and writer. In her address, Ms. Viqar emphasized that local governments are essential for empowering citizens, especially marginalised segments of society such as women, and for ensuring good governance in the country. She stated that the current model of governance and the contract between the State and its citizens is not working for women, who need to be included in governance structures at all tiers to ensure the progressive development of Pakistan.
