Landmark Ruling Declares ‘No Bachelors/Singles’ Housing Restrictions Illegal, Upholding Equality and Dignity

In a landmark ruling, the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace has declared “No Bachelors/Singles” housing restrictions illegal, unconstitutional, and void from inception. Denying residence on the basis of marital status or gender is a violation of fundamental rights to equality, dignity, and freedom of residence.

This verdict strengthens protections for single professionals particularly women whose mobility and livelihoods depend on fair access to housing. FOSPAH reiterates its commitment to a harassment-free, inclusive Pakistan where no individual is forced to choose between their work and their dignity.
