Is it ever the victim’s fault if they’re harassed?
At our recent awareness seminar at Baqai Medical University, a powerful question was raised: "Is it ever the victim’s fault if they’re harassed?" This sparked a deep and necessary conversation about victim blaming, an issue that continues to silence and shame survivors. Ms. Sabika Shah, our Regional Head from the Karachi Office, made it clear: instead of holding harassers accountable, society often blames the victim’s clothes, behavior, or choices. This toxic mindset doesn’t just worsen the trauma—it silences others from speaking up. We must stop this harmful narrative. Let’s be loud and clear: it’s never the victim’s fault. Responsibility always lies with the harasser. It’s time to stand together, reject victim blaming, and create a world where survivors are supported and empowered to speak out.
