RCCI Holds Breast Cancer Awareness Session with Federal Ombudsperson as Guest of Honor

Early diagnosis and medical care is the difference between life and death
This was the message at the Breast Cancer Awareness Session organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI) at Chamber House, Rawalpindi, on 29 October 2026.
Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Guest of Honor at the session who spoke about her own experience. While battling breast cancer, she continued working from home, which she said kept her going through a very difficult time.
She stressed that awareness alone is not enough. Women need access to timely medical care, and the support to seek it without fear for their jobs or responsibilities. Organisations should provide flexible, supportive workplaces so they can stay engaged, confident and mentally strong. Without that support, the burden of illness can leave them psychologically overwhelmed.
Early detection saves lives. Families, workplaces and institutions must ensure that no woman has to put her health last.
The session was also attended by Ms. Sheeren Rahman, Senator; Mr. Nosherwan Khalil Khan, President RCCI; Mr. Waseem Aslam, Senior Vice President; Mr. Sohail Altaf, Patron-in-Chief; Ms. Saima Dastagir, Executive; and Ms. Romana Quraishi, Chairperson of the event.
